Position as University Lecturer at the Faculty of Teacher Education

The position is located at the Faculty of Teacher Education.

At the faculty, we offer a wide range of teacher education programs: preschool teacher education, primary teacher education, subject teacher education, special teacher and special education teacher education, and vocational teacher education. We also offer master's and master's programs in educational work as well as doctoral education. There is a broad selection of independent courses. The faculty also conducts extensive commissioned education within the framework of the professional program. The faculty conducts research and education in a wide field of areas. As a university lecturer in the department, you will be able to be part of a research environment, for example, LiLL, Learning in Language and Literature (https://www.hkr.se/forskning/forskningsmiljoer/learning-in-language-and-literature-lill/ (https://www.hkr.se/forskning/forskningsmiljoer/learning-in-language-and-literature-lill/)). LiLL is an active research environment with several ongoing research projects in the fields of language, literature, and learning, including subject didactics. The environment has several doctoral students and is part of several national graduate schools. We also have a research platform, the Research Platform Learning in Collaboration, where research projects are conducted in collaboration with schools and preschools in our region.

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the lectureship include research, teaching, including practical training (VFU), supervision, and examination within the primary teacher education program. Teaching in the preschool teacher program and subject teacher program may also occur. Depending on the applicant's competence, there is also the opportunity for collaboration and teaching within the faculty's other programs as well as participation in the design and implementation of commissioned education within the framework of the professional program. Collaboration with the surrounding community is an important part of the work. Some administrative tasks such as course responsibility and course development are also included.

As part of the employment, meeting time and personal development time are included. For active researchers, there is an opportunity to apply for internal basic research time and additional research time based on performance. In addition to basic funded research time, two extra research months are included, for full-time employment, during the first year of employment. Furthermore, every other year, there is an opportunity for strategic research time that includes participation in the university's docent program. Additionally, it is possible to apply for internal funding for research projects through the Research Platform Learning in Collaboration. The employee is expected to be involved in research environments and may also teach and supervise in our doctoral education if applicable. You will be part of our collegial work and play an important role in our development and quality work.

Qualifications and Desired Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a doctoral degree in a relevant subject, such as Swedish with a didactic focus, Swedish as a second language, Nordic languages, general linguistics, literary studies, educational science, pedagogy, educational work, or speech therapy, and with a research focus that fits the content of the position, or equivalent scientific competence of significance with regard to the content of the position. If you have relevant teacher education for the subject, we consider it an advantage. For employment as a university lecturer, basic eligibility requirements in accordance with Chapter 4, Sections 3-4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and Kristianstad University's employment regulations are required. It is expected that you have higher education pedagogical training equivalent to 15 credits. If you do not have this, it can be supplemented within the first two years of employment.

You should have documented pedagogical experience and skill with a clear connection and relevance to teacher education in Swedish with a didactic focus, and for younger ages. Furthermore, you should have documented experience of research within, or relevant to, the Swedish didactic field, and if you have experience of supervising doctoral students, it is a merit. We consider it advantageous if you have teaching experience from higher education and/or from primary school in relevant subject areas, particularly Swedish and the younger years of school. It is also advantageous if you have documented familiarity with the school system and teacher education in Sweden. We would like you to have experience in supervising and examining independent projects and theses at the university level, and we welcome documented experience of practice-related research and/or collaboration between the university and society.

You should have a good ability to use digital teaching tools, digital research tools, and digital administrative systems. You are required to have good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form, and since teaching will mainly be conducted in teacher education, the ability to teach in Swedish is required. The position requires that you are flexible and that you plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively. We are looking for someone who can work independently and takes responsibility for their tasks. Of course, you have good pedagogical insight and a good understanding of how people acquire knowledge and can adapt your way of conveying your message. Naturally, you value good collaboration and work well with others. Personal qualities are highly valued.

Other

The position is a permanent full-time employment with a start date according to agreement. We usually apply a probationary period. The placement is in Kristianstad with good parking opportunities and good train and bus connections. Some teaching may be scheduled for evenings or weekends and also at locations other than Kristianstad.
